Alert: VidyoConnect for WebRTC (Android and iOS)


Enghouse Vidyo would like to make our VidyoConnect for WebRTC customers aware of the issues we are tracking on Android and iOS.

  • One issue affects the selected mic on Android (version 13).
  • The other issues affect audio output clarity and image resolution for iPad users on iOS (versions 15.6 & 16).
  • There are some audio issues present on iPhone 14 and 14 Pro using Safari.

The issues are:

  • Android (version 13)
    • Built-in mic is used even after choosing wired headset as default mic.
  • Audio issues using Safari on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro (iOS)
    • We have discovered that outbound audio will either intermittently cut out or disappear completely for a user on iPhone 14 and 14 Pro using the latest iOS and Safari software. We believe users of the iPhone 14 Plus and the Pro Max will be impacted in a similar way.
    • The issue will present itself only in the outbound audio (microphone output). Participants using an impacted device will be able to hear the other participants in a call, but other participants will not be able to hear them.
    • This is an issue in the latest iOS ecosystem and we are pursuing the relevant channels to identify a fix. We are also evaluating options internally to bypass this issue until Apple issues a fix.
    • There is currently no workaround for this and we suggest using our native mobile app for a smoother experience.
  • Safari on iOS (versions 15.6 & 16)
    • There is a distortion in the speaker audio on some iPad models when using Safari.
      • Possible workaround: switching to a different mic or connecting a headset with a microphone may result in clearer output audio.
    • Front-camera image resolution is not maintained after rotating the device. This affects the resolution of the video stream sent to other participants.
      • Possible workaround: the issue may be rectified by muting and unmuting the camera.

Enghouse Vidyo is currently tracking these issues. We will update this alert with any resolutions as soon as possible.
