VidyoConnect™ for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.5.0

What's new in this release?

Support for the latest OS versions and platforms

  • VidyoConnect for WebRTC now supports these latest OS versions and platforms:
    • Android 13

Epic Monitor ECAL support for VidyoConnect for WebRTC

  • The VidyoConnect for WebRTC app can now be used with Epic Monitor ECAL (Embedded Context-Aware Linking).
    • Epic Monitor ECAL is a grid of videos embedded in the Epic Monitor platform that is surrounded with contextual information from the EMR. This functionality allows organizations to use video apps, such as VidyoConnect for WebRTC, to engage in continuous video surveillance of multiple patients, be it for COVID, fall risk, or behavioral disorders.
  • To enable this feature, Epic administrators must add the initializeWebView=1 custom invocation URL parameter in their FDI record for generating Epic CAL links.
    • The parameter must go outside the CRYPTSTRING in the FDI record.
    • This feature is available only with VidyoPortal version 22.3.1 or later.

VidyoConnect for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.4.0: General Availability Release

Product Bulletin No. 1402

VidyoConnect™ for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.4.0

What's new in this release?

Improved layout on mobile devices

  • We have modified the layout for VidyoConnect for WebRTC on mobile platforms. The new layout experience is now similar to that of native mobile applications.
  • In particular, the self-view tile now is smaller. It’s also movable and hovers on top of the video of the remote participant making it easier for you to use the screen real estate as needed for your call.
    • The new layout is especially helpful in calls between a patient and provider because it provides more screen space for the provider to view the patient.

      Layout (iOS)

Saved display layout for Desktop and iPad

  • The app will remember which layout setting you used during the previous call and will start your next call using the same layout.
    • For example, if you selected Grid view during your call, when you start your next call, the layout will be in Grid view.

Voluntary hardware test

  • In this release, we're introducing a voluntary pre-call hardware test which enables users to check their hardware before joining a call.
    • The ability to run the voluntary hardware test is enabled by default.
    • mandatory hardware test, which requires users to perform the test before joining the call, is also available and still can be initiated by admins using custom invocation via Epic CAL.

      Hardware test (Desktop)

      Hardware test (Mobile)

Ability to add contact information to the hardware test

  • Tenant admins can now add their contact information to the hardware test so users can reach out for support if they are experiencing issues with their hardware.

    Add contact info (Desktop)

    Add contact info (Mobile)

Post-call survey

  • All of our VidyoConnect products now offer a post-call survey. This feature presents users with a five-star survey at the end of each call.
  • The result of the survey is reported to Google Analytics.

When?

  • On-premises customers can download this version on August 30, 2022.
  • Cloud customers will be automatically upgraded in the coming weeks.

VidyoConnect for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.3.0: General Availability Release

Product Bulletin No. 1392

VidyoConnect™ for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.3.0

What's new in this release?

Hardware check in Epic CAL workflows

  • In this release, we're introducing a pre-call hardware check into the Epic CAL workflow using a Custom Invocation URL parameter. When configured, this feature requires users to check their hardware before joining a call.
    • Users must go through three steps that help them check their speaker, microphone, and camera. For each step, users choose the device and perform the test.

    • If there is a hardware malfunction, users are notified that their experience may be compromised. They can also change their device after they've gone through the test.
  • To configure the hardware check, Epic administrators can add the following Custom Invocation URL parameter in their FDI record for generating Epic CAL links:
    • hwt=1: Enabling this would make the users go through the three-step hardware test.
    • hwtStrictMode=1: This is an additional parameter you can set to make the hardware check "strict". "Strict" means your users will not be able to join the meeting if one or more of their devices have failed.
  • Note:
    • The parameter must go outside the CRYPTSTRING in your FDI record.
    • This feature is available only with VidyoPortal version 22.4.1 or later.

Inactivity timer custom parameter

  • The new "InactivityTimer" custom parameter enables Tenant Admins to set a timeout value for guests and/or registered users. After the specified amount of time during which a participant is alone in a call, the VidyoConnect app disconnects the guest or registered user.
  • To use this feature, the Tenant Admin must configure it on the VidyoPortal. For information about how to do so, refer to the "Configuring Custom Parameters" section in the VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Administrator Guide version 22.4.1 or later.

Support for camera presets on VISCA cameras

  • If you're in a call with a VidyoConnect Room or VidyoRoom system that has a VISCA camera which supports camera presets, you can now see and use the presets from your VidyoConnect for WebRTC UI.
  • Camera presets are stored camera settings, such as the camera’s position and PTZ settings. When you select a preset, the camera quickly moves to the stored position.
    • For example, a VidyoConnect Room system in a patient's room may have presets set to point at the bed, the monitor, and the doorway. By selecting the "bed" preset, the camera would move to point at the patient's bed.
  • To access the camera presets, select a user that has the Far End Camera Control (FECC) feature enabled. The VidyoConnect window displays the FECC indicator on the participant’s avatar and on their video tile.

    • You can then click on the Select preset drop-down and select the preset you want to move the camera to.
  • Note: This feature is available only with VidyoPortal version 22.3.1 or later and VidyoConnect Room or VidyoRoom version 22.3.0 or later.

When?

  • On-premises customers can download this version on July 27, 2022.
  • Cloud customers will be automatically upgraded in the coming weeks.

Product Bulletin No. 1381

VidyoConnect™ for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.2.0

What's new in this release?

New compositor

  • VidyoConnect for Native WebRTC now utilizes a new compositor that provides better usability and functionality. For example:
    • The compositor UI now has two layouts.
    • The number of tiles displayed on tablets has increased.
    • Videos are never cropped.
    • The self-view tile has moved to the compositor.
    • The outgoing shared content is displayed the same way as the receiving shared content.
    • Epic media capture users are now advised to pin the tile.

Epic auto moderator PIN updates

VidyoConnect for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.1.0: General Availability Release

Product Bulletin No. 1368

VidyoConnect™ for WebRTC (Native) Version 22.1.0

What's new in this release?

Pop-up message for VidyoConnect for WebRTC users on iOS 15

  • With the release of iOS 15, Apple® introduced some critical issues for WebRTC users on Safari®. The issues are Apple limitations and are not a result of using VidyoConnect. Because of these issues, we've added the ability for you to configure a Warning pop-up that displays as the first screen for VidyoConnect WebRTC users joining a call with iOS 15 or later.

  • Admins can configure the contents of the message using the Settings > Feature Settings > Custom Parameters page on the Tenant Admin portal. For more information, refer to the "Configuring Custom Parameters" section in version 21.5.0 Rev. B of the VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Administrator Guide.

  • For more information about Apple's iOS 15 issues, refer to the Critical WebRTC Issues on iOS 15 and the Alert: Audio Issues with Safari on iOS 15 articles.

Tooltips for the state of media devices

  • In this release, we added tooltips to let you know when any of your media devices—microphone, camera, speaker— is active or muted. The new tooltips also include the name of your device.
    • When you hover over the icon of a device that is muted, the tooltip displays the name of your device and this message: "Your [device type] is muted (click to unmute)."

    • When you hover over the icon of a device that is active (in use), the tooltip displays the name of your device and this message: "Your [device type] is active (click to mute)."

Less obtrusive buttons in Epic waiting room

  • If you are a healthcare customer using Epic, you'll notice we've improved the buttons in the Epic waiting rooms to make them less obtrusive:
    • Buttons now fade out after three seconds.
    • Buttons reappear when the user touches the screen.
    • Buttons have shadows to enhance visibility.

Performance improvements

  • In this release, we've updated internal processes for enhanced functionality and performance.

Product Bulletin No. 1339

VidyoConnect™ for Native WebRTC Limited Availability (LA) Version 21.4.0

What's new in this release?

WebRTC participants now receive moderation

  • If you're a WebRTC user on a VidyoConnect call that has a moderator, you can now experience the same moderation functionality as users of the VidyoConnect desktop and mobile apps. For example, if the moderator mutes all users' mics and cameras, your devices will be muted; likewise, if the moderator disconnects all participants, you too will be disconnected.

    • see a background image (with our without audio).
  • Providers can specify the video, audio, and background image content to play in the waiting room. They can also select different content to play in the waiting room for different calls.
