Our latest generation APIs. We’ve made embedded video even easier!

Vidyo is happy to announce version 1.3.24 of VidyoWeb™ and the VidyoWorks™ Client API for the VidyoWeb Browser Extension

In this release, we focused on updates to the permission pop-ups and to the APIs. The permission pop-up changes we've made provide more consistent, reliable behavior in addition to enhanced usability. For our developer customers, this release offers new APIs for modifying logs, a new event that enables a window to appear as soon as the camera starts sending frames, and a number of other useful updates.

What's New?

Changes to the Permission Pop-Ups
  • VidyoWeb now displays a pop-up that asks users for permission to access their microphone in addition to their camera. In previous releases, the pop-up only asked about the camera.
  • The VidyoClientForWeb application now indicates to Chrome™ that it’s using both the camera and microphone. In previous releases, VidyoClientForWeb indicated that only the camera was being used.
  • We have modified our permission mechanism on Chrome to leverage the native mechanism only; therefore, all the issues that were related to the “Save” checkbox are no longer applicable.
  • When the pop-up that requests permission from the user to join a conference appears (when using the NPAPI plugins), the application receives the following:
    • PrivateOutEventGetJoinApproval events with the “joinStatus: true” value when the user selects “Allow”.
    • PrivateOutEventGetJoinApproval events with the “joinStatus: false” value when the user selects “Deny”.
New and Updated APIs
  • New APIs allow you to modify the number of log files and the size of each one. See the VidyoWeb: About Version 1.3.24 (0001) article for some usage examples.
  • We now have a JavaScript equivalent API call for the native function VidyoClientConsoleLogConfigure(). See the VidyoWeb: About Version 1.3.24 (0001) article for examples that show how to use it.
  • A new out event, OutEventInitialVideoFrameSent, enables a window to appear as soon as the camera starts sending frames.
  • Vidyo now delivers the requireJS and non-requireJS files that work with the sample application.
  • We’ve updated the certificate bundle stored within the NPAPI plugins. This update applies mainly to Internet Explorer® users who have selected the “Enable Protected Mode” checkbox.
Resolved Issue
  • If a domain name is long, the “Allow [domain name=""] to use your camera and microphone?” pop-up message now scales to fit all of the text within the pop-up box.

VidyoWeb and the VidyoWorks Client API for the VidyoWeb Browser Extension Version 1.3.16: General Availability Release

Product Bulletin No. 1180

Vidyo Logo

Want us to run your Vidyo servers?

Instant software upgrades. All-in access to the complete platform.

Vidyo is happy to announce version 1.3.16 of the VidyoWeb™ Extension and the VidyoWorks™ Client API for the VidyoWeb Browser Extension

Mozilla Firefox deprecated the NPAPI plugin architecture altogether on March 7th with the release of Firefox version 52. When this occurred, Vidyo’s NPAPI plugin that is available for Firefox also ceased to work.

To address this, Vidyo recommends deploying the Vidyo Neo™ for WebRTC Server product, which is freely available as a virtual machine to all maintained customers. In addition, we highly recommend installing VidyoWeb™ Extension version 1.3.16. When this version is installed, the following will occur when a user tries to connect to a Vidyo call:

  • If a WebRTC solution is available, the user will be automatically connected to the conference via WebRTC.
  • If a WebRTC solution is not available, a message will display indicating that Firefox is not supported and prompting the user to use Chrome™, Internet Explorer®, or Safari® as an alternative.

Please note that the bullets above do not apply to the VidyoWorks Client API for the VidyoWeb Browser Extension. App developers are free to determine how to handle this issue for the VidyoWorks Client API.

In accordance with the Vidyo Software Maintenance Policy, Vidyo is also pleased to announce version 1.3.16 of both the VidyoWeb Extension and the VidyoWorks Client API for the VidyoWeb Browser Extension as Anchor Releases. Anchor Releases for Vidyo endpoints and servers are marked in green on the Vidyo Compatibility Matrix. To view this document, click Compatibility Matrix, log in to your account on the Vidyo Support Center, and refer to the Software Compatibility Matrix.
