VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 21.5.0—Sep 2021

What's new in this release

  • Epic CAL participants in a waiting room can view video content
    • This feature enables our healthcare customers using Epic CAL integration to play video or music in waiting rooms for patients who are waiting for their healthcare providers to join their call.  This means that a patient waiting for a physician to join their call no longer has to stare at a blank screen. The waiting room can be customized such that while waiting, the patient can:
      • view a video.
      • listen to audio (with or without a background image).
      • see a background image (with or without audio).
    • Providers can specify the video, audio, and background image content to play in the waiting room. They also have the ability to select different content to play in the waiting room for different calls.

    • To use this feature, the Tenant Admin must configure it on VidyoPortal version 21.4.0 or later, and end users must be running VidyoConnect for Desktop version 21.5.0 or later or VidyoConnect for Native WebRTC version 21.4.0 or later.
  • High-frame content share with audio
    • This feature enables users to share audio with shared content at high definition, up to 1080p 30fps.
    • Users are able to share sound from their computer audio to the other participants on the call while sharing content.
  • Enhanced input/output device selection
    • This release includes an enhancement that makes it easy for users to set any of their connected devices (mic, speaker, or camera) as the preferred device for VidyoConnect calls.
      • When VidyoConnect is first installed, it uses the system default devices.
      • Users can now easily select an input/output device as the preferred device in the dropdown list of the connected devices. The selected device will be used as long as it is connected.
      • If the preferred device is not connected or or no longer available, VidyoConnect will use the system default.
      • If a user connects a new device that was selected as preferred, VidyoConnect will automatically switch to that preferred device and start to use it. If the user is in a call, a prompt appears to notify the user of the switch in devices.
    • Also included in the updated audio/video settings is a user's ability to set the default mute state of their devices (mic, speaker, or camera).
      • On the VidyoConnect app Settings page,  users can mute or turn off their devices for all calls.
      • Users can enable devices in a call.
      • On the beauty screen, users can mute/unmute a device for one call.
    • To learn more about input/output device selection, refer to the Using Friendly Device Selection section of the Using VidyoConnect: About Feature article.

NEP-16042 In this release, we have fixed the issue with VidyoConnect lag experienced by users on application start. Now, these libraries are included in VidyoConnect and start time is improved

VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 21.3.0—Jul 2021

What's new in this release

  • Blur background feature
    • This release adds support for blurring the background during your video calls. When this feature is enabled, your image appears clearly, but your background is subtly concealed.
      • This feature is available for Windows 10 64-bit and macOS.
    • To blur the background for your calls, select the Blur background checkbox on the VidyoConnect Settings > Audio/Video screen.

      Blur.png

  • Easily add video and audio to your direct calls when your Video Preferences setting is set to Voice + Content or Room Content Share
    • If you receive or make a direct call when your Video Preferences is set to Voice + Content, your camera will be muted, but you can unmute it if you want the other call participant to see you. If you receive or make a direct call when your Video Preferences is set to Room Content Share, your camera and mic will be muted, but you can unmute both if you want the other participant to see and hear you.
      • Prior to this version, the same scenarios would require you to end the direct call, go to the Settings > Audio/Video screen, change your Video Preferences to a setting that uses video, and then restart your direct call.

        VideoPreferencesSetting.png

    • For more information about Video Preferences, refer to the "Using Video Preferences" section of the Using VidyoConnect: About Each Feature article.
  • New way to accept the User Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy
    • Prior to this release, you had to select checkboxes to agree to the Vidyo User Terms & Conditions and the Vidyo Privacy Policy before you could join your call. Now, as indicated by a message on the beauty screen, you accept the User Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy by simply clicking the Join button.

      BeautyScreen.png

NEP-15118 Diagonal lines no longer occasionally appear in the background of the VidyoConnect desktop app when the chat panel is open.

        • Note: If you’re a VidyoCloud customer, new custom parameters that support these features will be automatically pushed to your tenants. • This feature requires VidyoPortal version 21.2.0 or later.
  • Conference duration timer
    • The new conference duration timer that appears in the upper-right corner of the VidyoConnect desktop app while you are in a call lets you know how long you’ve been in the conference.

      ConfDurationTime_InCall.png

    • This timer is disabled by default, but you can enable it from the VidyoConnect Settings screen.
    • When the conference ends, a message appears indicating your total participation time. If you  recorded the conference, the message also conveniently provides a link to the recording.

      ConfDurationTimer_Message_cropped.png

  • Ability to select from the four most recently used portals
    • To log in to your VidyoConnect desktop app, you have to indicate which portal you'd like to sign into. Sometimes, however, it can sometimes be difficult to remember the URLs of the portals. With this version of the app, you can simply tap on the portal field to see a drop-down menu of the four portals you used most recently.

      Portal_dropdown_desktop.png

    • Using Vidyo’s Epic Context-Aware Linking (CAL) integration, providers can now be automatically provisioned into their Tenant.

        • Select the Enable notifications sounds checkbox if you would like notification sounds to occur every time a person joins or leaves a call.

          • You have a small screen and minimal amount of display space.
          • You need to easily and quickly maneuver from one application to another when multi-tasking during a meeting without having the meeting screen take up your entire display window space.

            Mini_view_in_app.jpg

Resolved Issues

The following table lists the resolved issues in VidyoConnect for Desktop version 19.4.2:

VidyoConnect for Desktop Version 19.4.2 - Resolved Issues

Key Summary
NEP-13110

Enghouse Vidyo fixed a sporadic issue where some incoming direct calls on VidyoConnect desktop version 19.3.1 would fail to play the incoming call ringtone on Windows 10 computers.

NEP-13108

An issue was corrected where sometimes a VidyoConnect desktop two participant direct call was not dropped when the caller exited. The callee was then unable to leave this state and receive another incoming call.

NEP-13107

Enghouse Vidyo resolved an issue in the “Changing Your Default Tab Selection Upon Application Launch” feature from the last release (19.4.1). A system admin using a .msi deployment can now specify the default tab by passing the DEFAULTTAB argument with one of these values: [Meetings|Contacts|Rooms|Dialout]. For example, when setting the default tab to ‘Contacts’, the VidyoConnect desktop application will open in the Contacts tab. Once an admin specifies the default tab, a user will not be able to change it.

NEP-12988

Enghouse Vidyo fixed an issue for certain Windows 10 customers so now the screensaver will correctly exit when an incoming call is received. This issue occurred only for customers who met both of the following criteria:

  • The screensavers on their computers were set to ‘enabled’ with Windows user authentication not required on screensaver exit.
  • The auto-answer feature in their VidyoConnect desktop application was set to ‘on’.
NEP-13052

Digitally signed utility executables are now used for Microsoft Outlook integration and are also used in the VidyoConnect upgrade process. These utilities include:

  • VidyoNeoOutLookPluginReg.exe
  • VidyoNeoOutLookPluginReg64.exe
  • VidyoNeoOutlookPluginSrv.exe
  • VidyoConnectMailCompanion.exe
  • findproc.exe
  • findproc_x64.exe
  • findproc_x86.exe

Prior to this release, this issue could have prevented Outlook integration and/or upgrades to complete successfully in environments that blocked running un-signed executables using group policy.

Resolved Issues

The following table lists the resolved issue in VidyoConnect for Desktop version 19.4.1:

VidyoConnect for Desktop Version 19.4.1 - Resolved Issues

Key Summary
NEP-12835

The Marshall CV-610-U3 camera will work as expected (e.g., each PTZ click will move correctly/incrementally to pan, tilt, and zoom in version 19.4.1). Previously, each incremental click would make the camera move from one extreme location to another. Customers using 19.3.1 need to upgrade to 19.4.1 to fix this issue.

NEP-12119 Enghouse Vidyo fixed an issue so now direct calls between Tenants (P2P) work correctly.

VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 19.3.1

What's New in This Release

  • Enhanced Far End Camera Control (FECC) Capability
    • In this version, we enhanced the pan and tilt of the FECC functionality so the Camera Controller can now move the camera quickly and continuously rather than only with small incremental nudges.
    • This enhancement allows any users, including those in healthcare or education, to smoothly and precisely move the remote camera to specific areas of the remote room to obtain a better view of patients, educational materials, and so on.
    • For example, acute healthcare nurses and other professionals in an eICU can now use FECC to quickly and smoothly pan and tilt the camera to view the vitals monitor, medication drip, the patient's face, vent, or any other area of the patient's room.

This version only enhances the pan and tilt capabilities.  A future release will improve the zoom-in and zoom-out experience.

      • Requirements: To use the new smooth adjustment FECC capability, both the Camera Controller and the Camera Owner must use version 19.3.1 or later of the VidyoConnect desktop application.
      • Using the Smooth FECC Capability
        • Click the FECC Control Panel to pan, tilt, and zoom as defined by the camera.
        • For quicker and smoother camera control, click and hold the up, down, left, and right directional arrows from within the FECC Control Panel.
        • To make small moves or fine adjustments (e.g., nudges) with the camera position, click and release the up, down, left, and right directional arrows from within the FECC Control Panel.
        • To zoom in, hold the + button and to zoom out hold the - button. Additionally, you can use the keyboard shortcuts to zoom in and out: (e.g., Windows: Ctrl + "+" or “-“ and Mac: Command + "+" or “-“).

What's New in This Release

  • In-Call Moderator Controls

      • Soft mute all participants
      • Soft mute per participant
      • Disconnect per participant or all participants
    • If you prefer to view the moderator controls in a separate browser window, you can still do so simply by selecting the Open in browser option from the "Moderate call" panel. In the browser, there are full moderator controls including hard mute camera and microphone and lock and unlock the meeting.
    • Room owners can create a moderator PIN that will allow other participants to become the moderator. This can be especially useful if you anticipate that you may be late to a meeting or have to leave early.
    • For more information, please refer to the Using the Moderation Capability in the VidyoConnect for Desktop Application article.
  • Local Audio Levels
    • Device Settings now display real-time microphone audio levels.
  • New and Enhanced Window Controls and Positioning
    • To improve overall application usability, you can now:
      • Minimize the window to the taskbar while staying in a call.
      • Maximize the window and then un-maximize to return to the previous window size for full application mode.
      • Click an ESC button to leave a full-screen window to stay in a call or in a share.
      • Receive a warning message if you try to close the app window during a call, rather than getting disconnected from the call.
      • Change the size and position of windows more easily. For example, when starting a call, the app window remains the same size and position as an out-of-call window.
  • Enhanced Mini-View Share Window
    • The Mini-View window now has a minimize button in the title bar and has mute microphone and mute camera buttons.
  • Snapshot Notification
    • If a mobile participant in a call takes a snapshot of you or of the content you are sharing, you will now be notified by either of the following messages: For example, “Nancy Smith” has taken a snapshot of your video., "Nancy Smith” has taken a snapshot of your share.

      • We improved the share quality when you start receiving share in a small window and undock the share and maximize it.
      • To avoid confusion, our applications will now consistently use the terminology H.323/SIP endpoints instead of endpoint devices, legacy devices, dial-out endpoints, etc.
    • For the complete list of issues resolved in this release, see the "Resolved Issues" section below.

VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 19.1.1

VidyoConnect™ version 19.1.0 introduced TytoCare™, a cloud-based telehealth solution that simulates a comprehensive physical examination using a portable WiFi-enabled diagnostic device. The Tyto device allows medical professionals to examine a patient at the Point of Care (POC) and broadcast the exam data to a remote clinician. When used in conjunction with the VidyoConnect desktop application, the remote clinician can virtually meet with the POC users via secure and reliable video conferencing.

In VidyoConnect version 19.1.1, we've enhanced the TytoCare integration workflow and we’ve made it easier for users to troubleshoot TytoCare issues.

What's New in This Release

  • Detecting In-Progress Tyto Exams
    • When a Clinician user attempts to start a new Tyto exam, the VidyoConnect application now detects if any Tyto exams are currently in progress. This avoids the scenario where the Clinician is prevented from starting a new exam because a previous exam was accidentally left open (which could occur, for example, if the Clinician is dropped from a direct call).
  • Exposing Tyto Server Error Codes
    • To enable you to troubleshoot more effectively, TytoCare-related error messages now include the Tyto server error codes.

What's New in This Release

Add Legacy Endpoints to Your Favorite Contacts

  • If you often use the VidyoConnect application to call the same legacy H.323/SIP/Telephony endpoints, you can now add those endpoints as favorite contacts in your VidyoConnect Contacts list.
  • To add an endpoint as a favorite, search for the legacy contact using the Search bar, and then click star.png next to their alias in the results.
  • For example, let's say you often call your customer's Polycom system, which has an alias of "Polycom Legacy Device" in your VidyoConnect application. Search for "Polycom", click the star.png that appears next to "Polycom Legacy Device", and then it will appear as a favorite in your Contacts list every time you use the VidyoConnect app.

call.png

  • You can dial out to the legacy endpoint by clicking the CALL button.

call_2.png

  • To remove a legacy endpoint contact, simply click the star next to 'Remove from my contacts' or click the that appears next to the contact under Search results.

Guest User Access to Digital Stethoscopes

  • The digital stethoscope feature has been available since VidyoConnect version 18.3.0 and VidyoPortal version 18.3.0.
  • Previously, the digital stethoscope feature was restricted to registered users, whereby patient-side users (a.k.a., "stethoscope owners”) were required to be signed in in order for remote physicians to access the stethoscope audio during a VidyoConnect call. Now, both patient-side users and physician users are allowed to access the stethoscope feature as guest users.
  • For more information, please refer to the Using the VidyoConnect Digital Stethoscope Feature article.

VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 18.4.0

VidyoConnect™ is Vidyo's enterprise meeting solution for team collaboration. It offers a unified experience across desktop, WebRTC, and mobile devices. This article describes version 18.4.0 of the VidyoConnect desktop application.

What's New in This Release

Auto Answer

  • This feature allows users and admins to configure their VidyoConnect desktop application to automatically answer incoming calls.
  • Once enabled, whenever you receive an incoming call, the VidyoConnect UI will display a message for three seconds indicating who is calling you. If you do not manually answer or decline the call within three seconds, the VidyoConnect application will automatically answer and connect you to the call.

    IncomingCallIndication.png
  • For security reasons, this feature requires that you are signed in and that your desktop system is awake. Auto answer is disabled for guest users and when your system is locked or in sleep mode.
  • User selection is saved per portal and user account, allowing multiple users using the same desktop system to set different auto answer preferences.
  • You can enable auto answer in any of the following ways:
    • Device Settings - On the VidyoConnect landing page, click settings.png and open Device Settings.

      DeviceSettings.png

Select the Automatically answer incoming calls checkbox to enable the feature.
    • Custom Invocation - With Custom Invocation, you can customize the VidyoConnect client and invoke application features like auto answer. For more information, refer to the Using Custom Invocation article.
      • To enable the auto answer feature, set Custom Invocation with the autoAns argument. Doing so will override any previous user or Microsoft Installer (MSI) setting.
      • Prior to this release, the only way to enable auto answer was by using Custom Invocation.
    • MSI - This applies only for system administrators managing Windows install bases. To enable or disable the auto answer feature, use the AUTOANSWER install parameter value, which is saved in the registry under local machine (HKLM) and overrides the user settings.
      • If the parameter is not passed, auto answer is DISABLED, and users may change/enable the feature in their Settings.
      • If parameter is passed = 0, auto answer is DISABLED, and users may NOT change/enable the feature in their Settings.
      • If parameter is passed = 1, auto answer is ENABLED, and users may NOT change/disable the feature in their Settings.

Auto Start

  • This feature allows users and admins to configure the VidyoConnect application to automatically launch whenever their desktop system reboots.
  • User selection is saved per portal and user account, allowing multiple users using the same desktop system to set different auto start preferences.
  • You can enable auto start in any of the following ways:
    • Device Settings - On the VidyoConnect landing page, click settings.png and open Device Settings.

      DeviceSettings.png

Select the Launch VidyoConnect when my computer starts checkbox to enable the feature.
    • MSI - This applies only for system administrators managing Windows install bases. To enable or disable the auto start feature, use the AUTOSTART install parameter value, which is saved in the registry under local machine (HKLM) and overrides the user settings.
      • If parameter is passed = 1, auto start is ENABLED, and users may NOT change/disable the feature in their Settings.
      • If parameter is passed = 0 or is not passed, auto start is DISABLED, and users may change/enable the feature in their Settings.
      • With the introduction of this new parameter, we are deprecating the use of the previous install parameter DISABLEAUTOSTART. This also changes the default behavior whereby a VidyoConnect application installed via MSI will now, by default, not launch at system startup.

Digital Stethoscope

  • The digital stethoscope feature is available beginning with VidyoConnect version 18.3.0 and VidyoPortal version 18.3.0.
  • The supported stethoscope is the Thinklabs One. For more information, please refer to the Using the VidyoConnect Digital Stethoscope Feature article.

Some echo can be heard when person sharing is using a speaker and has an open mic.

NEP-16312

When two applications play audio using the default speaker, all the audio streams played from the default speaker will be shared.

NEP-16310

Sometimes in Video sharing mode, the share frame rate drops, causing the share to be less than optimal. The higher the screen resolution, the more likely this is to happen.

NEP-15350

When a VidyoConnect desktop called disconnects, the webcam light remains on because the mic is still engaged by the application (even though the camera itself is no longer on).

NEP-15274

Occasionally, a microphone or speaker that has been unplugged remains in the list of connected devices, and if a user selects the disconnected mic or speaker, the VidyoConnect app may freeze.

When a user who is using a Logitech B910 HD camera selects the High-Quality Video performance profile, their self-view may appear zoomed in or may freeze.

NEP-13958

Depending on your camera, the High-Quality Video performance profile may result in video delay and/or high CPU usage. For example, some 1080p Logitech cameras (such as the C615, C930e, and C910) may cause these issues when used on a Mac, whereas the Logitech Rally, Logitech MeetUp, and Sony SRG-120DU will not.

NEP-13289

If a user joins a locked room, the post-call iFrame displays on top of the “This room is currently locked” pop-up.

If this occurs, click the Restart button when the update notification opens.

NEP-11158  If a VidyoConnect user has two monitors and shares the second monitor, the correct monitor is shared; however, VidyoConnect does not properly display a blue frame around the second monitor to indicate that it is being shared.
NEP-11070

When the VidyoConnect for Desktop application is launched on a Windows laptop that is connected to an Aastra 6725ip phone, the phone lights up red to show that it is in use, the UI displays "Computer Audio in Use", and the phone icon switches to busy.

NEP-8330

If a user clicks “Join” to join a call and then downloads the client, the user will be unable to log in as a guest if auto login is enabled and they have an expired access token.

When this occurs, the login page appears and the user can log in using their username and password.

NEP-8256

NEP-6213

When joining a call with multiple participants and switching to theater mode and then muting and unmuting all cameras from HTML CM mute, only one tile appears.

If this occurs, switch to continuous presence to view all tiles or disconnect and rejoin the call.

NEP-6000

If a user has the room details page open at the same time the admin sets a PIN for the room, when the user clicks the Join button, they will not be asked to enter the PIN nor will they be able to join the room.
