VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 22.3.0—Jun 2022
What's new in this release
- Critical security update
- A change in our vendor for software signing certificates was required. To support those certificates, this release contains critical updates within VidyoConnect for Desktop.
- As a consequence of this change, older versions of our clients will stop auto-updating from the VidyoPortal starting July 11th.
- While the older versions will continue to work, they will fail the auto-update process and will periodically present an auto-update error until the application is manually updated.
- Updating to version 22.3.0 is mandatory if you want to be able to receive automatic updates in the future from the VidyoPortal. This version is a critical checkpoint in terms of your upgrade path. You will not be able to update to future versions automatically without first updating to this mandatory version.
- For example, if you are on version 22.2.0 now and you decide to skip 22.3.0, but you later want to update to 22.4.0, you will not be able to push out the update automatically via the VidyoPortal. Instead, your users will need to download the installer from the VidyoPortal and run the installation manually. Due to this, we strongly suggest updating to 22.3.0 now.
- If you have deployed VidyoConnect for Desktop via an MSI solution, your endpoints do not get their updates from the VidyoPortal; therefore, they are not impacted by this issue:
- Hardware check in Epic CAL workflows
- In this release, we're introducing a pre-call hardware check into the Epic CAL workflow using a Custom Invocation URL parameter. When configured, this feature requires users to check their hardware before joining a call.
- Users must go through three steps that help them check their speaker, microphone, and camera. For each step, users choose the device and perform the test.
- Speaker Test: When initiated, the speaker test plays a sound with a visual indication. This enables users to know if their speakers are working correctly.
- Microphone Test: The microphone test is a two-step process. First, the user records their voice for five seconds.
Next, VidyoConnect plays back the recording, and users can indicate if they heard the sound. - Camera Test: The camera test displays video from the user’s camera. The user can then indicate if they see the video.
- If there is a hardware malfunction, users are notified that their experience may be compromised.
- Speaker Test: When initiated, the speaker test plays a sound with a visual indication. This enables users to know if their speakers are working correctly.
- To configure this, Epic administrators can add the following Custom Invocation URL parameter in their FDI record for generating Epic CAL links:
- hwt=1: Enabling this would make the users go through the three-step hardware test.
- hwtStrictMode=1: This is an additional parameter you can set to make the hardware check ‘strict’. ‘Strict’ means your users will not be able to join the meeting if one or more of their devices have failed.
- Note:
- This feature is available only with VidyoPortal version 22.4.1 or later.
- The parameter must go outside the CRYPTSTRING in your FDI record.
- Inactivity timer custom parameter for Epic
- The new "InactivityTimer" custom parameter enables Tenant Admins to set a timeout value for guests and/or registered Epic users. After the specified amount of time during which a participant is alone in a call, the VidyoConnect app disconnects the guest or registered user.
- The default timeout value is 6 hours (21600 seconds).
- The Tenant Admin can set up this parameter for guest and registered users separately.
- To use this feature, the Tenant Admin must configure it on VidyoPortal.
- For information about how to configure the Tenant Admin Portal for this feature, refer to the "Configuring Custom Parameters" section in the VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Administrator Guide version 22.4.1 or later.
- For information about how to configure the Tenant Admin Portal for this feature, refer to the "Configuring Custom Parameters" section in the VidyoPortal and VidyoRouter Administrator Guide version 22.4.1 or later.
- The new "InactivityTimer" custom parameter enables Tenant Admins to set a timeout value for guests and/or registered Epic users. After the specified amount of time during which a participant is alone in a call, the VidyoConnect app disconnects the guest or registered user.
- Support for camera presets on VISCA cameras
- If you're in a call with a VidyoConnect Room or VidyoRoom system that has a VISCA camera that supports camera presets, you can now see and use the presets from your VidyoConnect Desktop UI.
- Camera presets are stored camera settings, such as the camera’s position and PTZ settings. When you select a preset, the camera quickly moves to the stored position.
- For example, a VidyoConnect Room system in a patient's room may have presets set to point at the bed, the monitor, and the doorway. By selecting the "bed" preset, the camera would quickly move to point at the patient's bed.
- To access the camera presets, simply select a user that has the Far End Camera Control (FECC) feature enabled. The VidyoConnect window displays the FECC indicator on the participant’s avatar and on their video tile.
- You can then click on the Select preset drop-down and select the preset you want to move the camera to.
- Keep in mind that the preset switch is a selector, not a status indicator. That is, once you select a preset, it will go back to displaying "Select preset". This does not mean that your preset has not been selected.
- You can then click on the Select preset drop-down and select the preset you want to move the camera to.
- All the pan, tilt, and zoom functions still exist, so you have the ability to use those in addition to using camera presets.
- Note: This feature is available only with VidyoPortal version 22.3.1 or later and VidyoConnect Room or VidyoRoom version 22.3.0 or later.
- CEF update on macOS
- To improve performance, we updated the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) on macOS.
Resolved issues
The following table lists the issue we've resolved in VidyoConnect for Desktop 22.3.0:
VidyoConnect for Desktop Version 22.3.0 - Resolved Issues | |
---|---|
Key | Summary |
NEP-15602 | An issue has been fixed where joining a call was slow on macOS when a user used two monitors and/or a dock. |
NEP-15264 | An issue has been fixed where content sharing was not working properly on macOS when a user used two monitors and/or a dock. |
VIDCOND-5 | When using the FECC feature, Sony SRG-120DU cameras are now able to zoom out. |

VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 22.2.0—Apr 2022
What's new in this release
- Easily view call statistics
- You can now use the new Statistics button on the VidyoConnect Settings > Help page to see statistics about your ongoing video call.
- The statistics displayed include the transmit and receive bandwidth availability and utilization, the audio and video statistics for all the participants, and more.
- You can now use the new Statistics button on the VidyoConnect Settings > Help page to see statistics about your ongoing video call.
- Better control of outbound video settings
- We've updated the VidyoConnect Settings > Audio/Video page with a new Outbound Processing Setting for configuring your processing power and a new Outbound Video Bitrate Setting for configuring your network power.
- These new settings give you finer control on how much processing power and bandwidth VidyoConnect uses, thereby enabling you to better control the quality of the video and the participant experience during conferences.
- We've updated the VidyoConnect Settings > Audio/Video page with a new Outbound Processing Setting for configuring your processing power and a new Outbound Video Bitrate Setting for configuring your network power.
- Support for PCP-USB stethoscope
- To give our healthcare customers more choices, we've added support for a new stethoscope: the ri-sonic® PCP-USB Telemedicine Stethoscope.
- This stethoscope plugs directly into the USB port and does not require a dongle.
- Epic auto moderator PIN updates
- We've updated the workflow for auto-provisioned Epic healthcare providers who join a call. Any auto-provisioned provider who now joins a call continues to be a moderator even when other auto-provisioned providers join. Prior to this release, only the auto-provisioned provider who joined the call last would have been the moderator.
Resolved issues

VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 19.3.1
What's New in This Release
- Enhanced Far End Camera Control (FECC) Capability
- In this version, we enhanced the pan and tilt of the FECC functionality so the Camera Controller can now move the camera quickly and continuously rather than only with small incremental nudges.
- This enhancement allows any users, including those in healthcare or education, to smoothly and precisely move the remote camera to specific areas of the remote room to obtain a better view of patients, educational materials, and so on.
- For example, acute healthcare nurses and other professionals in an eICU can now use FECC to quickly and smoothly pan and tilt the camera to view the vitals monitor, medication drip, the patient's face, vent, or any other area of the patient's room.
This version only enhances the pan and tilt capabilities. A future release will improve the zoom-in and zoom-out experience.
- Requirements: To use the new smooth adjustment FECC capability, both the Camera Controller and the Camera Owner must use version 19.3.1 or later of the VidyoConnect desktop application.
- Using the Smooth FECC Capability
- Click the FECC Control Panel to pan, tilt, and zoom as defined by the camera.
- For quicker and smoother camera control, click and hold the up, down, left, and right directional arrows from within the FECC Control Panel.
- To make small moves or fine adjustments (e.g., nudges) with the camera position, click and release the up, down, left, and right directional arrows from within the FECC Control Panel.
- To zoom in, hold the + button and to zoom out hold the - button. Additionally, you can use the keyboard shortcuts to zoom in and out: (e.g., Windows: Ctrl + "+" or “-“ and Mac: Command + "+" or “-“).
- For more information about the new smooth FECC capability including the list of Supported Cameras, refer to the Using the VidyoConnect Far End Camera Control (FECC) Capability for Desktop and Mobile article.

VidyoConnect for Desktop: About Version 19.1.1
VidyoConnect™ version 19.1.0 introduced TytoCare™, a cloud-based telehealth solution that simulates a comprehensive physical examination using a portable WiFi-enabled diagnostic device. The Tyto device allows medical professionals to examine a patient at the Point of Care (POC) and broadcast the exam data to a remote clinician. When used in conjunction with the VidyoConnect desktop application, the remote clinician can virtually meet with the POC users via secure and reliable video conferencing.
In VidyoConnect version 19.1.1, we've enhanced the TytoCare integration workflow and we’ve made it easier for users to troubleshoot TytoCare issues.
What's New in This Release

- Exposing Tyto Server Error Codes
- To enable you to troubleshoot more effectively, TytoCare-related error messages now include the Tyto server error codes.

- This feature allows users and admins to configure their VidyoConnect desktop application to automatically answer incoming calls.
- Once enabled, whenever you receive an incoming call, the VidyoConnect UI will display a message for three seconds indicating who is calling you. If you do not manually answer or decline the call within three seconds, the VidyoConnect application will automatically answer and connect you to the call.
- For security reasons, this feature requires that you are signed in and that your desktop system is awake. Auto answer is disabled for guest users and when your system is locked or in sleep mode.
- User selection is saved per portal and user account, allowing multiple users using the same desktop system to set different auto answer preferences.
- You can enable auto answer in any of the following ways:
- Device Settings - On the VidyoConnect landing page, click
and open Device Settings.
Select the Automatically answer incoming calls checkbox to enable the feature. - Custom Invocation - With Custom Invocation, you can customize the VidyoConnect client and invoke application features like auto answer. For more information, refer to the Using Custom Invocation article.
- To enable the auto answer feature, set Custom Invocation with the autoAns argument. Doing so will override any previous user or Microsoft Installer (MSI) setting.
- Prior to this release, the only way to enable auto answer was by using Custom Invocation.
- MSI - This applies only for system administrators managing Windows install bases. To enable or disable the auto answer feature, use the AUTOANSWER install parameter value, which is saved in the registry under local machine (HKLM) and overrides the user settings.
- If the parameter is not passed, auto answer is DISABLED, and users may change/enable the feature in their Settings.
- If parameter is passed = 0, auto answer is DISABLED, and users may NOT change/enable the feature in their Settings.
- If parameter is passed = 1, auto answer is ENABLED, and users may NOT change/disable the feature in their Settings.
- Device Settings - On the VidyoConnect landing page, click
Auto Start
- This feature allows users and admins to configure the VidyoConnect application to automatically launch whenever their desktop system reboots.
- User selection is saved per portal and user account, allowing multiple users using the same desktop system to set different auto start preferences.
- You can enable auto start in any of the following ways:
- Device Settings - On the VidyoConnect landing page, click
and open Device Settings.
Select the Launch VidyoConnect when my computer starts checkbox to enable the feature. - MSI - This applies only for system administrators managing Windows install bases. To enable or disable the auto start feature, use the AUTOSTART install parameter value, which is saved in the registry under local machine (HKLM) and overrides the user settings.
- If parameter is passed = 1, auto start is ENABLED, and users may NOT change/disable the feature in their Settings.
- If parameter is passed = 0 or is not passed, auto start is DISABLED, and users may change/enable the feature in their Settings.
- With the introduction of this new parameter, we are deprecating the use of the previous install parameter DISABLEAUTOSTART. This also changes the default behavior whereby a VidyoConnect application installed via MSI will now, by default, not launch at system startup.
- Device Settings - On the VidyoConnect landing page, click
Digital Stethoscope
- The digital stethoscope feature is available beginning with VidyoConnect version 18.3.0 and VidyoPortal version 18.3.0.
- The supported stethoscope is the Thinklabs One. For more information, please refer to the Using the VidyoConnect Digital Stethoscope Feature article.

Known Issues
The following table lists the issues that still remain for VidyoConnect for desktop, but you can be sure our teams are working hard to fix them.
VidyoConnect for Desktop - Known Issues | |
---|---|
Key | Summary |
NEP-16318 |
When an audio share is going on and a listener speaks, at first, the listener receives distorted sound and then, stops receiving audio all together. |
NEP-16317 |
Some echo can be heard when person sharing is using a speaker and has an open mic. |
NEP-16312 |
When two applications play audio using the default speaker, all the audio streams played from the default speaker will be shared. |
NEP-16310 |
Audio share stops working for a remote participant when the meeting moderator or host mutes the participant's mic. |
NEP-16309 | If VidyoConnect for desktop app plays audio from a non-default speaker, a remote participant does not hear the audio share. |
NEP-15820 |
Sometimes in Video sharing mode, the share frame rate drops, causing the share to be less than optimal. The higher the screen resolution, the more likely this is to happen. |
NEP-15350 |
When a VidyoConnect desktop called disconnects, the webcam light remains on because the mic is still engaged by the application (even though the camera itself is no longer on). |
NEP-15274 |
Occasionally, a microphone or speaker that has been unplugged remains in the list of connected devices, and if a user selects the disconnected mic or speaker, the VidyoConnect app may freeze. |
NEP-14783 |
Sometimes the VidyoConnect app does not launch after install or update. |
NEP-14850 |
On occasion, any new product or new download version coming from a trusted source, like Enghouse Vidyo, may receive a "false positive" alert meaning that even though the file is free of viruses; it erroneously is flagged for various reasons as malware or suspicious. When submitting version 20.3.0 of the VidyoConnect installer to the VirusTotal website, you may receive a "false positive" trojan alert from Sangfor Engine Zero. If you are concerned about this "false positive" detection, you can test the file using a trusted antivirus tool. |
NEP-14769 |
When a moderator locks his or her respective room, the locked room indicator is not displayed until the room details page is opened. |
NEP-14561 |
If you are connecting to Office 365 while using a personal Microsoft account; the calendar will fail to connect. |
NEP-13986 |
When a user who is using a Logitech B910 HD camera selects the High-Quality Video performance profile, their self-view may appear zoomed in or may freeze. |
NEP-13958 |
Depending on your camera, the High-Quality Video performance profile may result in video delay and/or high CPU usage. For example, some 1080p Logitech cameras (such as the C615, C930e, and C910) may cause these issues when used on a Mac, whereas the Logitech Rally, Logitech MeetUp, and Sony SRG-120DU will not. |
NEP-13289 |
If a user joins a locked room, the post-call iFrame displays on top of the “This room is currently locked” pop-up. |
NEP-13288 |
When opening a guest link with configured iFrames, the pre-call iFrame is displayed with a delay and the “Joining the call” window is incorrectly visible before the iFrame is loaded. |
NEP-12800 |
If you join a call on OS X, open System Preferences, and click different options, when you subsequently click Share, only one System Preferences app should be present in the list of apps available for sharing; instead there are multiple. |
NEP-12622 |
On rare occasions, the Logitech CC3000E camera can zoom or tilt, but cannot pan to the opposite direction. The camera does not respond to FECC when it reaches absolute left or right panned positions. If this occurs, disconnect and reconnect the camera. |
NEP-11501 |
If Outlook 2010 is not running when a user clicks + on the Meetings tab to schedule a meeting, the VidyoConnect application is unable to schedule the meeting. To avoid this issue, ensure that Outlook 2010 is running before attempting to schedule a meeting. |
NEP-11365 |
If a logged-in OS X user gets a notification from VidyoConnect that an update for the application is available, and then that user opens a guest link from Safari, the guest link doesn’t open in the same VidyoConnect window; instead, a new VidyoConnect window opens and the application does not update after restart. If this occurs, click the Restart button when the update notification opens. |
NEP-11158 | If a VidyoConnect user has two monitors and shares the second monitor, the correct monitor is shared; however, VidyoConnect does not properly display a blue frame around the second monitor to indicate that it is being shared. |
NEP-11070 |
When the VidyoConnect for Desktop application is launched on a Windows laptop that is connected to an Aastra 6725ip phone, the phone lights up red to show that it is in use, the UI displays "Computer Audio in Use", and the phone icon switches to busy. If this occurs, quit VidyoConnect to cause the phone to return back to its normal state. |
NEP-10909 |
If a room name consists of two or more words, the spaces between the words change to underscores when the VidyoConnect application is refreshed. |
NEP-10846 | If a meeting invitation is generated from a contact's details page, the invitation cannot be sent. |
NEP-10818 | If one participant in a VidyoConnect call momentarily disconnects while another participant changes their peripheral devices, the participant who disconnected may not receive audio, video, and chat messages from the participant who switched devices, nor will they receive indication that there was a connection issue. |
NEP-10791 | Users are not able to connect their Exchange calendar when using 32-bit VidyoConnect installed using MSI on a 64-bit OS. |
NEP-10610 | When a user with a controllable camera (camera owner) mutes or unplugs the camera while it is being remotely controlled, the user is dropped from the call with a frozen app screen. |
NEP-10546 | Users don't see the invitation to the call after acknowledging the Login Banner. |
NEP-10526 | The shortcut for the VidyoConnect application does not appear on the desktop or in the Start menu of restricted users who were installed via the admin installer by an admin user. |
NEP-10520 and NEP-8256 |
If an H.323/SIP endpoint is invited and then disconnected from the Control Meeting page, the DTMF dialer continues to display in the left panel and DTMF tones continue to be sent. |
NEP-10395 | An admin who was invited to the meeting cannot invite other users. |
NEP-10282 | MSI: Uninstall does not remove VidyoConnect files. |
NEP-10258 | iFrames from another tenant are displayed if a user was previously logged in to the other tenant. |
NEP-9689 and NEP-8208 |
In certain cases (such as when using Windows 7 or when the OS language is set to a language other than English), if a PowerPoint presentation is shared in Edit mode and then the user starts the slide show, the presentation does not switch to Slideshow mode but rather remains in Edit mode. |
NEP-9545 and NEP-9047 |
When using the Text tool on the whiteboard, various issues may occur. For example, the text box cannot be resized after the user types a few lines of text and the layout of the text in the text box may change when the user exits from the text box. |
NEP-8770 | When using the whiteboard feature, if a user creates a page and gives it a title, but then uses “undo” and “redo” a number of times, the page loses its title. |
NEP-8330 |
If a user clicks “Join” to join a call and then downloads the client, the user will be unable to log in as a guest if auto login is enabled and they have an expired access token. When this occurs, the login page appears and the user can log in using their username and password. |
NEP-8256 |
An H.323/SIP endpoint caller is present in the left panel when leaving a call. The legacy caller should disappear from the left panel if there are no legacy endpoints in the call. |
NEP-8208 | When sharing a PowerPoint presentation in Russian/Ukrainian version and then switching to slide show, the edit mode is still shared. Root cause is related to the operating system and Microsoft Office version. |
NEP-8131 | Closing the VidyoConnect window doesn’t prevent a user from joining a call. Therefore, if a user clicks to join a room and then closes the VidyoConnect window, that user will actually join the call. |
NEP-7803 |
For users with muted audio who dial out to a legacy endpoint, the application is unable to send DTMF tones. |
NEP-7745 |
Windows users who are not allowed to execute unsigned files may be unable to uninstall the VidyoConnect application. |
NEP-7743 | When using web proxy with basic authentication, the VidyoConnect application cannot connect to Google Calendar. |
NEP-7250 | Some default Windows apps, such as Photos, Calendar, and Groove, do not appear in the application share list. |
NEP-6939 and NEP-4136 |
Joining calls is not possible if web proxy is enabled with authentication after logging in. This still occurs even after removing the web proxy. If this occurs, log out and then log back in. |
NEP-6431 | When a user has more than one display and shares a PowerPoint slideshow when Presenter View is enabled, both the slideshow and Presenter View are shared. |
NEP-6250 | If a voice-only user who has no camera joins a call, the notification in the Participants list erroneously states "This user's camera is unavailable" rather than stating that the user has no camera. |
NEP-6213 |
When joining a call with multiple participants and switching to theater mode and then muting and unmuting all cameras from HTML CM mute, only one tile appears. If this occurs, switch to continuous presence to view all tiles or disconnect and rejoin the call. |
NEP-6000 |
If a user has the room details page open at the same time the admin sets a PIN for the room, when the user clicks the Join button, they will not be asked to enter the PIN nor will they be able to join the room. If this occurs, re-open the room details page. You will then be asked to enter the PIN. |
NEP-5956 | If a monitor is shared from a Mac, the other participants in the conference see the shared monitor but they also see the highlighted borders and the Share icon. |
NEP-5955 |
There is a visible delay (5 seconds on a very fast network) between clicking on own room and seeing room link and send invitation link. |
NEP-4921 | If a user’s camera is being used by an application other than VidyoConnect, and then the user joins a call with VidyoConnect, that user will not see a notification that their camera is in use by another application. |
NEP-4385 | Version 4.1D cannot log into a VidyoPortal with TLS 1.2 only. |
NEP-4047 | Echo can be heard for approximately one second after a headset is disconnected from a MacBook Pro or a MacBook. |
NEP-3890 | When a user loses their network connection before accepting an incoming direct call, the ringing continues until the call times out. |
NEP-3827 | No notification is displayed to the caller when they initiate a direct call if they are using a portal where Scheduled Rooms have been disabled. |
NEP-3685 | The incorrect CDR call completion code displays when the call is ended by the caller. |
NEP-3684 | Incorrect CDR entries display when an incoming call times out. |
NEP-3676 | Incorrect CDR entries display when an outgoing direct call is cancelled. |
NEP-3648 | If a call is initiated from the Missed Call notification, VidyoConnect places the call even if the person being called is offline. |
NEP-3467 | If the network is slow and a user is the first participant to join a call, the user sees a “[username] has joined the conference” message instead of the “You’re the only person in the call” message. |
NEP-3187 | If a user has more than one display and shares the main display, the video window does not move to the non-shared display. |
NEP-3112 | When all UDP and TCP ports are blocked except for ports 80 and 443, logging in to the VidyoConnect application and joining calls with VidyoConnect takes between 15 and 30 seconds longer than when the UDP and TCP ports are not blocked. |
NEP-3077 | Network changes and user/tenant information retrieved from the portal is not refreshed after login is completed. |
NEP-2657 | When two or more users start sharing content simultaneously, none of the shared content is displayed. |
NEP-2129 | If a Tenant admin changes the name of a room, VidyoConnect users do not see the new room name in the UI until they log out and log back in. |
NEP-1545 | The list of applications available to share shows multiple thumbnails for Microsoft Office for Mac applications. |
NEP-1069 | When using a Mac and sharing a document from one application with several instances available for sharing (e.g., two Word documents and two PowerPoint presentations); the selected document should display in the foreground and be marked as highlighted. Instead, the selected application does not display in the foreground and the highlighted area floats on the screen. |
