Mozilla Firefox deprecated the NPAPI plugin architecture altogether on March 7th with the release of Firefox version 52. When this occurred, Vidyo’s NPAPI plugin that is available for Firefox also ceased to work.
To address this, Vidyo recommends deploying the Vidyo Neo™ for WebRTC Server product, which is freely available as a virtual machine to all maintained customers. In addition, we highly recommend installing VidyoWeb™ Extension version 1.3.16. When this version is installed, the following will occur when a user tries to connect to a Vidyo call:
- If a WebRTC solution is available, the user will be automatically connected to the conference via WebRTC.
- If a WebRTC solution is not available, a message will display indicating that Firefox is not supported and prompting the user to use Chrome™, Internet Explorer®, or Safari® as an alternative.
Please note that the bullets above do not apply to the VidyoWorks Client API for the VidyoWeb Browser Extension. App developers are free to determine how to handle this issue for the VidyoWorks Client API.
In accordance with the Vidyo Software Maintenance Policy, Vidyo is also pleased to announce version 1.3.16 of both the VidyoWeb Extension and the VidyoWorks Client API for the VidyoWeb Browser Extension as Anchor Releases. Anchor Releases for Vidyo endpoints and servers are marked in green on the Vidyo Compatibility Matrix.
