VidyoConnect™ is Vidyo's enterprise meeting solution for team collaboration. It offers a unified experience across desktop, WebRTC, and mobile devices. This article describes version 18.3.0 of the VidyoConnect desktop applicaton, which includes WebRTC unless otherwise noted.
What's New in This Release
Here's what's new in this release:
Far End Camera Control (FECC)
- This feature allows participants in a call to remotely control a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera connected to a far end VidyoConnect desktop or VidyoRoom endpoint.
- FECC works with VidyoPortal™ version 17.1.0 or later.
- The Camera Owner must enable FECC under Device Settings prior to joining a VidyoConnect call as a participant" or FECC must be enabled under Device Settings by the Camera Owner prior to joining the VidyoConnect call.
- You can access all the controls you need to adjust a participant’s far end camera by clicking the FECC button
on the lower right of the participant’s video tile, or by clicking
next to the participant’s name in the VidyoConnect Participants' list. The FECC Control Panel allows you to:
- Move the camera up, down, right, or left with the corresponding arrow keys.
- Zoom in or out with the + or – keys.
- Only cameras that are capable of panning, tilting, and zooming are supported. For a list of the supported cameras, refer to the “Supported Cameras for Using the FECC Capability” section below.
- To learn more about using FECC with VidyoConnect for Desktop, refer to the Using the VidyoConnect Far End Camera Control (FECC) Capability for Desktop and Mobile article.
Login Banner
- VidyoConnect can now display a configurable banner to users as soon as they successfully log in to the VidyoConnect application.
- The banner could display, for example, a welcome message, information about your company, or security information that users need to read and acknowledge.
- If you’re a Super Admin using VidyoPortal version 17.1.0 and later, you can:
- Enable or disable this feature.
- Input, format, and edit the text that the users will see on the login banner.
- Select both “Welcome Banner” and “Login Banner” to enable users to see their login history along with the banner message.
- To learn more about enabling this feature, refer to the Customizing the Login and Welcome Banners article.
End-User License Agreement (EULA)
- After you install the VidyoConnect application, you will now be able to read and accept Vidyo’s EULA before you first launch the application.
- Thereafter, you can access the EULA anytime by clicking the Settings button in the VidyoConnect application and selecting “About VidyoConnect”.
- Once you accept the EULA, you will not be prompted to accept it again unless the application is re-installed or upgraded with a new EULA version.
- If you do not see the EULA when launching the VidyoConnect software, then possibly an administrator has accepted the EULA on your behalf.
Terms and Conditions
- In accordance with data privacy regulations, you will now be prompted to read and accept our updated User Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy the first time you log in to the VidyoConnect application.
- This applies to registered VidyoCloud™ customers including auto-login users, SAML-authenticated users, guest users on the VidyoCloud portal, and those using VidyoCloud portal endpoints such as VidyoRoom.
- This does not apply to customers using older versions of VidyoConnect software or on-premise customers.
- Once you accept the User Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, you will not be prompted to accept them again unless these documents are updated in the future.
- At any point, you have the ability to withdraw your user consent by clicking the Settings button in the VidyoConnect application and selecting “Terms & Privacy”. Once the consent window is opened, you may uncheck one or both of your acceptances and quit the VidyoConnect application. After withdrawing consent, the application will prompt you again the next time you launch VidyoConnect.
On-premise customers in the European Union (EU) may choose to enable this user consent workflow. Please contact your Solution Engineer for details. If you would like further information or need additional assistance, please contact VidyoCloud Support at 1844-488-2227 or +1-201-620-6955 or email: support@vidyocloud.com.
Upgrading from VidyoDesktop™ or Vidyo Neo™
If you’re planning to upgrade to VidyoConnect from VidyoDesktop or Vidyo Neo, we'd like to clarify a few important points that you should pass along to your users:
- If you've just switched from Vidyo Neo or VidyoDesktop and VidyoMobile™ to VidyoConnect, your users will now be redirected to the new VidyoConnect for Mobile app when they join a call from a mobile device. They will first be prompted to download the app from the Google Play™ Store or the Apple® App Store. Then, once the app is installed, they'll be routed to their call via the VidyoConnect for Mobile app.
- If you’re still using VidyoDesktop and VidyoMobile, we encourage you to upgrade to VidyoConnect to access all the latest features. Please contact us to initiate the upgrade to VidyoConnect, and click here to learn more about what to expect.
We invite you to visit our VidyoConnect page to find out more about the VidyoConnect applications, the benefits of moving to our cloud services, and the plans we offer.
