Testing Your Configuration

Follow

After you've set up your configuration, you can begin to test the configuration. At a minimum, you should have already done the following:

  • Configured the ports in your firewall.
  • Logged in to the Admin interface.
  • Created users and meeting rooms.
  • Customized the invite text.
  • Enabled WebRTC, public and private chat, scheduled rooms, and Waiting Room and Presenter modes.

If you've determined that your setup is ready to test, do the following:

  1. Use VidyoConnect for Desktop™ to join a Vidyo conference in your own room and in someone else's room.
    • Once you've successfully joined the meeting room, you should see loopback video if you are the only participant in the room or you should see the video from other participants. If you receive loopback video, it means the media is traversing in both directions. If you receive another participant’s video, ask them if they are receiving your video. If both sides are receiving each other’s video, then that too means media traversal is working in both directions. If media traversal does not take place, it is more than likely that the UDP port range is not properly configured at the firewall NAT.
    • Be sure to test from both the inside LAN and from the Public Network by using the same URL (e.g., http://[portal.example.com]).
    • If you are using multiple Media Address Maps, test from each remote network segment.

  2. Use VidyoConnect for Mobile to join a Vidyo conference.
    • Download VidyoConnect for Mobile from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
    • Try placing calls and joining rooms from a mobile phone as well as from a tablet.

  3. Join a Vidyo conference from a non-Vidyo™ H.323 or SIP endpoint, such as from a room system or a legacy device.
    • Send a Vidyo meeting invitation to the endpoint.
    • From the endpoint, dial the number provided on the invitation, and then enter the extension (also provided on the invitation) and the PIN (if provided) when prompted.

  4. Continue to test other use cases that you anticipate you will run into at your organization.
    For example:
    • Test various types of calls from all your locations.
    • Join calls using WebRTC.
    • Try using public and private chat, scheduled rooms, and Waiting Room and Presenter modes.

You can now proceed in any of these ways:

  • If you've run into problems and need help, refer to the articles in the "FAQ" section, use our search to find your specific item, or refer to Contacting Vidyo Support.
  • If you want to perform additional administration and configuration tasks, refer to the articles in the "VidyoCloud Administration" section.
